Dear MSAD #1 Students, Parents, and Staff:
I am pleased to report that we are in our sixth week of safely providing in-person instruction at all of our schools. I am appreciative of the flexibility and adaptability of our students and staff who have adjusted very well to our new routines and expectations. These district health and safety routines are an important element in the effort to keep COVID-19 cases low in our school district as well as in our county.
Last evening the MSAD #1 Board of Directors approved three revisions to the MSAD #1 School Calendar for the 2020-2021 school year. The revisions were made in an effort to provide more time for teachers to plan to meet the needs of their students. This year, teachers have been tasked with a challenging job. They have been asked to simultaneously meet the needs of students who are in the classroom every day as well as students who are learning remotely. This practice is new to all of our teachers, and they would benefit from the additional time to plan and work on the technology to support remote learning. In an effort to provide more time for our teachers to prepare, we have designated the following school days as early release days where students will be dismissed at 11:30:
Friday, October 30
Friday, November 13
Friday, December 11
* Each parent will be emailed an updated school calendar to reflect these changes.
I would also like to share that the United States Department of Agriculture announced earlier this week that they have extended a number of waivers to allow all MSAD #1 students to have breakfast and lunch at no cost for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact MSAD #1 Food Services Director, Kathy Allen via email at email@example.com , or by phone at 764-0792.
Best wishes and good health to you all.
