MEMO: Positive COVID Cases – November 10, 2021

November 10, 2021

Dear Students, Families, and Staff,

We have been made aware that three individuals in MSAD #1 have tested positive for the coronavirus.  All three individuals are affiliated with Zippel Elementary School.

Once again, we had very few close contacts required to quarantine for 10 days despite having three positive cases.  Due to universal masking in our schools, students who were masked and within 3-6 feet of a positive case can continue to attend school.  We also had students and staff enrolled in pooled testing at Zippel Elementary School which helped to keep the 10 day quarantine requirement to 8 students in total.

Members of the MSAD #1 Health Services department notified the students considered close contacts to the individuals who tested positive at Zippel Elementary. This includes close contacts who were masked and within 3-6 feet of the positive individuals as well as those who were enrolled in pooled testing and/or fully vaccinated.  If you have not been contacted, your student is not considered a close contact.  All MSAD 1 schools will remain open for in-person instruction.

For up to date information regarding active cases in our schools as well as the number of students currently in quarantine, please visit our COVID Dashboard on our website at https://sad1.org/covid-dashboard/

Please remember to keep your child home if he or she is not feeling well and reach out to MSAD #1 Health Service Director, Lisa Mckenna at mckennal@sad1.org for additional guidance prior to returning to school.

Sincerely,

Ben Greenlaw

Superintendent
