Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
I am writing to inform you that the members of the Presque Isle High School varsity ice hockey team have been deemed close contacts to an individual who has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). The PIHS hockey team played a game on Saturday, February 6 against Old Town/Orono. A member of the Old Town/Orono hockey team has since tested positive for the coronavirus. Members of the MSAD #1 Health Services department have notified members of the PIHS hockey team and have directed the students and staff who were at the game on February 6 to quarantine for 10 days.
The Old Town/Orono individual who tested positive played in a hockey game versus Presque Isle High School on Saturday, February 6. We have approximately 17 students and 2 staff members considered as close contacts to that individual. These close contacts will be out of quarantine on Wednesday, February 17.
All MSAD #1 schools will continue to be open for in-person instruction as there is no impact to the teaching and support staff in the district.
Please continue to take the necessary precautions against the coronavirus in order to reduce the spread of the disease. Feel free to reach out to MSAD #1 Health Services Director, Lisa McKenna at firstname.lastname@example.org, your child’s principal, or myself at email@example.com if you have any questions.
