Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

Governor Janet Mills recently announced changes to the State of Maine outdoor mask requirements.  In response to these changes, as well as updated guidance from the Maine Department of Education, MSAD 1 staff and students will no longer be required to wear masks while outside. This change applies to both recess and outdoor learning opportunities for all students and staff.  This change in MSAD 1 policy will take effect on Thursday, May 20.

Masks are still required for students and staff while indoors and on school buses. When indoors, masks may be removed to eat or to take a mask break, and still require six feet of social distancing. Also, students must continue to wear masks and maintain three feet of distance when inside.

Thank you for your support during this challenging school year.  This announcement is yet another step in returning to more familiar school routines for our students and staff.

Sincerely,

Ben Greenlaw

Superintendent
