Dear Staff, Students, and Families,

This letter is to inform you that an individual associated with Presque Isle High School recently tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). Members of the MSAD #1 nursing staff are in contact with the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as the individual who tested positive. We are aware that this individual has not been at Presque Isle High School for more than a week prior to testing positive for the coronavirus.  This individual tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, October 30.  The Maine CDC has notified us that there are no “close contacts” or any individuals who will need to quarantine since the individual who tested positive for the coronavirus was not at school during their infectious period.  Therefore, no students or staff members at Presque Isle High School were exposed to the individual with the coronavirus while at school.  The individual is currently in isolation and will return to Presque Isle High School when released from isolation by the Maine CDC.

Due to the health and privacy rights of the individual, we will not be releasing his/her name.  We are notifying the community in an effort to eliminate any misinformation and to take the opportunity to reinforce the importance of wearing masks and face coverings, washing hands, and maintaining social distancing.  The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.  Please monitor yourself and/or your student for signs and symptoms of the coronavirus, call a health care provider if symptoms start, and stay home if you are sick.

This is a challenging time in our state and nation.  Please continue to take the necessary precautions against the coronavirus in order to reduce the spread of the disease. Feel free to reach out to MSAD #1 Health Services Director, Lisa McKenna at, your child’s principal, or myself at if you have any questions.
